Many members and veterans of the Australian Defence Forces have tattoos, and while their reasons for getting tattooed are as varied as the people themselves, self-expression and belonging play a part.

Hear the stories behind some of the tattoos in the Australian War Memorial’s touring exhibition, Ink in the Lines, on display at the Shrine of Remembrance from 1 November 2023 to 11 February 2024.

The exhibition showcases Australia’s modern veterans and their families, who through their tattoos commemorate the people, events and experiences which shaped their lives.

Join us for the launch of Ink in the Lines on November 1 from 6pm. Light refreshments will be provided and attendees will have the opportunity to hear from the curator and explore the exhibition.

Doors open at 5.30pm with formalities commencing at 6pm.
