August in Kabul: Andrew Quilty in conversation with Tracey Curro
- Dauer: 80 Minuten (ca.)
- Ort: Melbourne, VIC
- Produkt-Code: PP36
Join us as Gold Walkley winner Andrew Quilty sits down with journalist Tracey Curro to discuss his new book August in Kabul: America's last days in Afghanistan.
As night fell on 15 August 2021, the Taliban entered Kabul, capital of Afghanistan. As cities and towns fell in rapid succession, Western troops and embassy staff scrambled to flee a country of which its government had lost control. To the world, Kabul in August looked like Saigon in 1975.
Andrew Quilty was one of a handful of Western journalists who stayed in Kabul as the city fell. August in Kabul is his first-hand account of those dramatic final days told through the eyes of Afghans whose lives have been turned upside down.
Copies of August in Kabul will be available for purchase at the event.
The talk will be held in the Shrine of Remembrance Auditorium. Entry is via the Education Centre courtyard, with doors opening at 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
This event is free for Shrine Friends* and volunteers. Bookings essential.
